tranzit.org
The tranzit.org network is a collaborative initiative of independent associations in contemporary art across Austria, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania.
The tranzit.org network was founded in 2002. It supports emancipatory practices and connections between culture and society, challenging post-war European art narratives. Each tranzit organisation operates autonomously.
tranzit focuses on supporting emancipatory practices and establishing connections between culture and society, moving across geographical, generational and political boundaries.
Each tranzit organisation provides spaces where artists can work freely and independently, promoting mutual understanding and cross-border dialogue. In a Europe marked by nationalism and (socio-economic) inequality, tranzit plays a crucial role in offering safe spaces for critical engagement with contemporary societal phenomena.

In every country in which the network is active, tranzit operates autonomously within its local context and uses different formats and methods such as exhibitions, thematic projects, seminars, publications and participatory interventions. tranzit is committed to an open dialogue and inclusivity. tranzit helps us to contextualize, generate or host debates around today’s urgent questions. We invite you to join us in exploring forward-looking alternatives to societal issues through the lens of contemporary art.
