Our educational programmes strengthen the civil society sector in Central and Eastern Europe. With the NGO Academy, we are investing specifically in the effectiveness and sustainability of civil society organisations.

The NGO Academy supports 500+ civil society organisations, their employees and thus indirectly their beneficiaries and stakeholders with tailor-made programmes: the Social Innovation and Management Programme, the Regional Programme, Community Led Events, the MSc Social Innovation & Management (CE) and the Civil Society Leadership Programme for Ukraine.

Civil society organisations in the CEE region often face similar challenges: repressive governments, little and volatile financing possibilities, little room for building knowledge and methods for professional work as well as a lack of financial means and possibilities to benefit from existing capacity builders. This is where we come in. Capacity building means promoting important new skills within the organisations and preparing them well for future challenges.

The NGO Academy is a joint initiative of ERSTE Foundation and the Competence Center for Nonprofit Organizations and Social Entrepreneurship at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Since its foundation in 2013, we have also been promoting the development of international networks between participants, peers and experts.
