Study presentation: Labour market-specific effects of family care needs

May 5, 2025
Vienna or YouTube

In the run-up to the »Day of Care« on 12 May, we are focusing on a special topic together with Alles Clara: What impact does the need for family care have on the labour market? To what extent are women particularly affected? And how can this be remedied—at least somewhat?

One thing is clear: care and the labour market are closely intertwined. The economic and social consequences of family care needs are manifold. EcoAustria and ERSTE Foundation have addressed this issue in a recent study. The results of the study, »Labour market-specific effects of family care needs«, are now available and will be presented and discussed publicly for the first time.

(In)compatible? A focus on care and the labour market

Following the presentation of the results by Prof. Dr. Monika Köppl-Turyna (EcoAustria), she will be joined in discussion by:

  • Dr Eva Höltl, Head of the Health Centre at Erste Bank Austria
  • Birgit Meinhard-Schiebel, President of the Interest Group for Caring Relatives
  • Mag.a Elisabeth Wenzl, Managing Director of Familie und Beruf GmbH
  • A representative of the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (requested)

The discussion will be moderated by Damita Pressl (NZZ). The event will be held in German.

You can join us at the Concordia Press Club, Bankgasse 8 in Vienna, or watch it live online. The recording will be available online the next day.
