Meșteshukar ButiQ (MBQ), the București-based social enterprise and member of the ERSTE Foundation Roma Partnership is participating at the Vienna Design Week in framework of this year’s country focus. It is working on revaluing traditional Roma craftsmanship and provides premium lifestyle products with a story and design that stands out in any context, using a blend of centuries-old techniques combined with contemporary design. Together with the deisig duo zerunianandweisz they are exhibiting FIDDLER, PFEIFFER & SCHLAU at VDW from 29 September to 8 October.
Age group : 5-11 years old
Maximum 15 children per workshop
Three sessions: starting at 10, 11 and 12 o’clock
Based on the exhibits by zerunianandweisz, eematico is organising a hands-on workshop for five- to eight-year-olds: The children use different materials to make toy versions of the figural exhibits FIDDLER, PFEIFFER & SCHLAU. Wood, string, wire, paper, and cardboard are cut, polished, glued, screwed, or painted, all according to the children’s ideas. At the end, they present their finished objects, explain what the toys represent, and have them photographed for the hall of fame. The workshop aims to make children familiar with design as a means of thinking and doing, which acts as a connecting link between different cultures and crafts. Maximum of 15 children per workshop.
