Reading Gender. Art, Power and Politics of Representation in Eastern Europe
13 and 14 November 2009
The symposium “Reading Gender. Art, Power and Politics of Representation in Eastern Europe” took place on 13 and 14 November in the auditorium at MUMOK. Twenty-six international experts were invited to speak about the role of feminist theories in Eastern Europe in relation to developments in the West, about the significance of transgender positions and about the new definition and revision of canonical ideals of gender.
The symposium comprised lectures, artist talks, discussions and a performance. It was divided into three thematic sections, two of which are accompanied by an introductory forum.
